This is a big year for the Earth Building Association; our internationally renowned Earth Building Standards are under threat and we risk losing a key component for developing healthy, local, affordable, energy saving, and carbon sequestering homes.

In April last year the MBIE withdrew its funding and support for the revision of these standards, a revision it had previously supported and funded. Over the past 8 years 95% of the revision work has been completed, but due to reallocation of funds by the Government to Kiwibuild we now have to self-fund this process with $60,000 remaining to be raised.
We are in fundraising mode and humbly ask all those who have been involved with our organisation to contribute to Save Our Standards. To lapsed members please consider renewing your membership and subscribing for the coming year. An annual membership includes three colour magazines, email updates of events happening in your region, and of course there will be our annual conference this year taking place in the picturesque Cromwell.
For more information and to make a donation please visit our Give A Little page and consider registering as a member.
You can help in other ways too; if you know of interested individuals, businesses, charities and special interest groups that may be able to help with funding or spreading the message to their networks please forward this to them.
‘The New Zealand Earth Building Standards are an essential mechanism for making the continuation of this low carbon, affordable building method possible and it is imperative that the review process be completed’, said Graeme North, founder and former chair of EBANZ and current chair of the Standards Revision Committee.
We appreciate your support in the past and hope you can continue to support us as we tackle this latest hurdle and achieve another milestone.
Many thanks from all the EBANZ team.
